Cyberbullying

Cyberbullying is just what it sounds like, the Internet allows for people both anonymous and not to torment people and bully them for things that they might post or to attack their character. Cyberbullying is mostly found happening over social media. The NY times article points out how one student threatened to shoot people at their high school through Myspace messaging. I think ultimately one way to stop cyberbullying is to limit Internet access and usage for teens who are more susceptible to that type of behavior. People in general need to learn how to block\ignore people as they would in real life. Keeping yourself out of certain situations would help to eliminate the possibility of cyberbullying as well. If cyberbullying is a real problem for certain people, a very real and viable solution is to just take a break from the Internet as a whole.

Creativity and Social Media

I created a Second Life account! It was actually pretty cool, I've had experience with MMOs before but not quite an experience like this. I can see why businesses are starting to adopt this as a useful tool to hold conferences when people aren't always available in the real world but can be there over the web. Heres a couple pictures I have:

Social Media

Social Media:
Twitter: @CarnageVMR
Instagram: DacarnageVMR
Facebook: Victor Reaux

I'm apart of so many! I currently check on the regular: Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Vine, and Tumblr. I think I prefer Twitter the most. Facebook isn't very much appealing to me as once was; but Twitter, the immediate interaction you can have with people you know, famous people and important people is really neat. It's funny that Yahoo! mentions not screwing up Tumblr, because I knew exactly what people were afraid of. People hate change, and the way Tumblr is with its niche' groups and images, people would not like the direction it would go in if Yahoo! decided to change some things. I have to agree to, I totally understand. Tumblr is awesome for what it is, blogging\imaging and interacting with others while you do it.

Virtual words are imaginary words that you can participate in with other people, sort of like an imaginary computer environment. Some examples of virtual worlds include: Second Life, World of Warcraft, League of Legends, other MMORPGS, etc. They can be used for a variety of things like playing games or as illustrated in the CNN Business article (Second Life Virtual Collaboration) it was used to have business articles! Virtual worlds are extremely neat, and definitely have a place in the future.  If I could have one thing in my own virtual world it would be the ability to do what ever it is I wanted to. If I had an imaginary Chicago like setting in my virtual world, I'd want to be able to teleport anywhere in the city. That would make bar-hopping extremely fun.

World Wide Web

World Wide Web:

The future of the World Wide Web is looking absolutely terrific. With the innovation and everything revolving around the WWW, it can only be more integrated into our lives in the future. Unfortunately this has positive and negative aspects. In a good sense, the WWW is our "industrial revolution" but in a bad sense its enabling bad behavior like spying and cyber bullying. In 'The Cloud challenges Amazon, we see what happens when things only connected and backed up by the Internet (Netflix)  can happen when things malfunction: Services are shutdown or are unavailable. Overall, I think the WWW will no doubt continue to be an asset for us in the future.

The 'Cloud' or Cloud computing is taking advantage of using software that isn't local to the person trying to access something but instead connected through the Internet. For example, Sony recently acquired a service called Gaikai to stream games to console owners via cloud services.  Cloud computing: As software migrates from local PCs to distant Internet servers, users and developers alike go along for the ride,  points out that Cloud computing allows for users to stay up to date on applications, and also offers end users mobility and collaboration. While cloud computing is the future we need to be weary and have precautions set as In 'The Cloud challenges Amazon", we see what happens when things only connected and backed up by the Internet (Netflix)  can happen when things malfunction: Services are shutdown or are unavailable.

Im not sure if a blogger can incorporate courses in them I guess they could. In my opinion, when I think of blogs, they are of a more personal nature but for class purposes they could probably work. Having students reply to lectures or give thoughts could possibly be one way.
